Sidewalk & Street Maintenance
The City of Norwalk Public Services Department Street Maintenance Section is responsible for concrete repairs including 400 miles of sidewalks and curb & gutter; 187 miles of asphalt patching and pothole repair; maintenance of alleys, City owned lots, commercial sidewalks, cul-de-sacs, culverts, drain and drainage channels, dead-ends, hillsides, parkways, and slot flows.

Street Sweeping Services -
Street sweeping services are provided in the City of Norwalk by a private contractor. All major thoroughfares, residential streets, alleys, and cul-de-sacs are swept on a weekly basis.
Sweeping services are not provided during inclement weather, or on the following holidays: New Year's Day; Martin Luther King Day; President's Day; Memorial Day; Fourth of July; Labor Day; Veteran's Day; Thanksgiving Holiday; and Christmas Day.

Traffic Maintenance
The Public Services Department Traffic Maintenance Section maintains the traffic legends such as crosswalks and stop bars; 45,000 regulatory signs including, no parking, street sweeping restrictions, stop, yield, neighborhood street name signs, and painted curbs throughout Norwalk. In addition, this section paints parking lots at the Social Service and Senior Citizens Centers, Alondra Library, City Hall, Transportation Center, Parking Structure, and City parks, while also maintaining center lines on all major arterial streets and many collector streets. The Traffic Maintenance section also installs, cleans, and maintains all City seasonal and community banners on display in the medians and City facility parking lots.
