Special Event and Business Event Permits
The City considers a "“Business event” or “business promotion” a special exhibition or activity on the interior or exterior of a business’ premises for marketing, sales, or advertising purposes associated with the business. NMC 5.28.010 Business events include, but are no limited to, business promotions or sale, grand openings, temporary outdoor dining, etc.
A “Special Event” to mean a short-term land use activity that is distinct from the customary land use of the property on which it is conducted and involves the potential for a substantial number of participants or spectators. NMC 5.28.101 Special events includes, but is not limited to, carnival, live or recorded music concert, circus, certified farmer’s market, special sale in a parking lot, special outdoor retail sales promotion, rodeo, auction, animal show, car show, tent sales, seasonal goods market (such as Christmas trees or pumpkin lots) street fair, rides or any similar temporary exhibition, performance or sale.
Completed applications (and supporting documents) must be submitted to the Recreation Department at the Norwalk Arts & Sports Complex at 13000 Clarkdale Avenue. Applications fees are due at the time of submission, and applications are due no later than 45 days before the scheduled event; no exceptions. The fee schedule is as follows:
