Fireworks stands may be run by any qualified non-profit group or organization with a current 501© designation from the Internal Revenue Service.

In order to qualify, the organization must be established in the City for a minimum of five (5) years, has a membership of at least 20 members,  50% of which must reside in the City, and has its regular meeting location in Norwalk.

How to Obtain a Fireworks Stand Permit

Applicants for Fireworks Stands must meet the Fireworks Qualifications.

A member of the interested organization must attend a mandatory orientation meeting held in March each year.

Applications and accompanying documents must be submitted prior to May 1st along with a non-refundable application fee

How many stands does the City allow?

20 stands are allowed to operate within the City.  If more than 20 applications are received, a lottery is held. The first 20 applications drawn are awarded a stand, while the remaining applications after the initial 20, will be guaranteed a stand the following year, provided they meet all the qualifications for that year.

 

When can I start buying Safe and Sane fireworks in Norwalk?

Safe and Sane fireworks may be sold beginning July 1st through July 4th from 10am to 10pm.  However, individual organizations may set their own hours within these parameters.
