Fireworks stands may be run by any qualified non-profit group or organization with a current 501© designation from the Internal Revenue Service.

In order to qualify, the organization must be established in the City for a minimum of five (5) years, has a membership of at least 20 members, 50% of which must reside in the City, and has its regular meeting location in Norwalk.

How to Obtain a Fireworks Stand Permit

Applicants for Fireworks Stands must meet the Fireworks Qualifications.

A member of the interested organization must attend a mandatory orientation meeting held in March each year.

Applications and accompanying documents must be submitted prior to May 1^st along with a non-refundable application fee

How many stands does the City allow?

20 stands are allowed to operate within the City. If more than 20 applications are received, a lottery is held. The first 20 applications drawn are awarded a stand, while the remaining applications after the initial 20, will be guaranteed a stand the following year, provided they meet all the qualifications for that year.

When can I start buying Safe and Sane fireworks in Norwalk?

Safe and Sane fireworks may be sold beginning July 1^st through July 4^th from 10am to 10pm. However, individual organizations may set their own hours within these parameters.
