Public Records
The central and legal files of the City are maintained by the City Clerk's Department. An electronic filing system has been established to provide a legislative history of official actions. The City's optical imaging system is in place to provide instant access to public records, as well as to provide recovery in the event of disaster.
The information management system provides access to City documents that have been scanned and stored for access and preservation. Please click on the following link: Records Portal
Submitting a Public Records Request
Requests to review / receive copies of records that are not available in the City's optical imaging system may be requested by submitting a Public Records Request using the City's online Public Records Request Program. Please click on the following link: Online Public Records Request to submit a Public Records Request. Responses will be provided within the online system.
Please contact the City Clerk's Department at (562) 929-5720 or by email at: recordsrequest@norwalkca.gov for questions or assistance in completing the online Public Records Request form.
SB 272 - Catalog of Enterprise Systems
In October 2015, Governor Jerry Brown approved Senate Bill 272, which requires the City to create and post a catalog of its “enterprise systems” in a prominent location on the City’s website.
The catalog will be updated annually. An “enterprise system” is defined under Government Code Section 6270.5 as:
A software application or computer system that collects, stores, exchanges, and analyzes information that the agency uses that is both of the following:
A) A multidepartmental system or system that contains information collected about the public.
B) A system of record.
A system of record means a system that serves as an original source of data within an agency.
