Traffic Awareness Art Contest 2022

Calling all Norwalk youth! Public Safety is launching its Traffic Awareness Campaign in the month of May. As part of the campaign, all Norwalk youth are eligible to enter the 2022 Traffic Awareness Art Contest!  This contest will highlight local youth’s artistic skills as they display why it is important to drive safely and always abide by traffic laws.  It is simple and easy to enter!  All you need is a blank 8 ½” by 11” plain piece of paper and your creativity!

Announcement of winning entries will take place on the City’s social media platforms on May 12, 2022.  Winners will be selected by age category (elementary, middle, and high school).

Winners will receive a prize and be recognized on the City’s social media and at the May 17, 2022, City Council meeting.

All submissions will be kept by the City for display at City Hall.

Proposed Renovation of Existing Building located at 11729 Imperial Hwy, Norwalk, CA 90650

Dear Neighbors,

 

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of an upcoming 2nd neighborhood meeting related to the proposed renovation of the former Walmart building located at 11729 Imperial Hwy, Norwalk, CA 90650. Due to public safety reasons related to the recent increase in COVID-19 infection rates, this meeting will no longer be in-person, and will instead be hosted completely online using Microsoft Teams. The hyperlink and call-in information to attend the virtual meeting on January 19th, 2022 are provided below.

 

The proposed use would either be a Last-Mile Neighborhood Delivery Facility or Online Auto Sales Facility. Both scenarios would require the processing of a Text Amendment to the City’s Zoning Code. Additionally, building and site improvements are proposed that would involve painting of the building, addition of five (5) dock-high doors to the southeast part of the building as well as installation of grade-level doors on the east and west sides of the building for ingress and egress of delivery vans along with other landscaping and fencing improvements.

 

During the virtual neighborhood meeting, the developer (CenterPoint Properties) will give a presentation to provide information about the project and respond to questions from interested parties.
